In these statistics, the earnings for employees are the earnings insured for an earnings-related pension, and for self-employed persons, their insured incomes. The average employees' insured earning or self-employed person's insured income constitutes an arithmetic average value of gross earnings at the level of the statistical year. Median earnings are the mid-point of the earnings or incomes distribution. For employee, the average monthly earnings are calculated by dividing annual earnings by number of months in employment. For the self-employed, the monthly earnings are calculated by the number of months during which the insurance is valid. Symbols used in the table:
